Before you call or visit
A few things that save everyone time
The office can explain how sales work and where things stand on a case. It cannot give legal advice, stop or postpone a sale, or let anyone into a property.
- Have the case number handy — it is printed with every listing on the Properties for Sale page
- Check the sale list on the morning of the sale; cancellations are posted as soon as the office is notified
- For appraisals, parcel maps and ownership records, use the Property Valuation Administrator website
- For court records, visit the Circuit Clerk’s Office on the 3rd floor of the Judicial Center
- Questions about your rights as an owner, bidder or lien holder belong with a qualified real estate attorney
